Sukhoi delivers last three Su-30 fighters to Indonesia

Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, who was guest of honor at the ceremony, said that Indonesia was going to continue to buy Russian military aircraft.

Indonesia bought four jet fighters in Russia in 2003. In August 2007, the countries signed an agreement for the delivery of another six Su jet fighters. Three Su-30MK2 jet fighters were brought to Indonesia on February 2, 2009, and the last of the other three Su-27KM jets was delivered to Indonesia on September 16.

“The death of three Russian engineers was a tragic accident, and we would like to express gratitude to our Indonesian partners for their full cooperation in this respect,” Alexander Ivanov said. “But despite this tragedy, the three SU jets (the last ones under the agreement from 2007) were assembled ahead of schedule thanks to the high level of professionalism of our engineers and technicians. The flight tests were conducted successfully and ahead of schedule, once again, by Indonesia’s request.”
